During this strange time of social distancing and quarantine, we’ve all been cooped up in our homes with our kids. The loss of social interaction and the inability to just go ANYWHERE has started to get to me. To try to beat the monotonous boredom, I put together a super simple outdoor scavenger hunt for kids with two variations; one for country living and one for urban living.
Going on an outdoor scavenger hunt with your kids is the perfect way to get your kids outside to play and explore. I don’t know about you, but my kids have been getting bored of playing outside lately (inside too lol) but the idea of going outside to search for things actually got them excited to get outside.
The best part of these printable nature hunts for kids is that it requires absolutely no prep on your part! Just print out the scavenger list that best fits your area, and take those kids outside for some fun.
I created two different simple nature scavenger hunts. We live in the country on acreage, so we would not see things around our house like police cars or even a stop sign. So this first scavenger hunt is all nature.
This first nature scavenger hunt would also be great if you were planning to take your kids on a hike or to a park.

Never Have I Ever Questions for Kids
The list uses pictures and words, making it great for your toddlers and preschoolers. But don’t worry, the big kids like to take part too and help out the little ones.

The next children’s outdoor scavenger hunt list is a mix of nature and city. If you live in the suburbs or a big city, this scavenger hunt should cover the variety of things you may see while you are out taking a fun walk around your neighborhood.
A little twist to this would be to bring pencils along and count how many of each you see. That way the little ones get some math time without even realizing it:)

My three kids had so much fun doing this simple scavenger hunt! It’s so nice to just get out of the house and get some exercise. It’s even better that the kids don’t realize I’m taking them out to try and wear them out a little bit…they just think I’m taking them on a fun adventure.
This social distancing has been tough and I feel so bad for my kids. They have been pretty understanding about us not being able to go places, but it has to be so hard for them not to be able to see their friends face to face.

I’m trying my best to come up with some fun activities that we can do together at home that will alleviate some of their boredom. So, stay posted because I have some kid-friendly indoor activity ideas that I’ll be posting soon.
I hope this nature scavenger hunt was fun for your whole family!
Wishing you good health!
