Spring has just about sprung and that means it’s time to start thinking about Easter and coming up with some Easter Basket ideas for toddlers. Right now I’m getting prepared to buy what I need for some candy-free Easter Baskets for the toddlers in our family. A non-candy Easter basket??? Yep! They’ll get enough sweets when they’re on their egg hunt.

I don’t mind my kids having candy, and I’m pretty lenient about it when it comes to holidays and special occasions. But, I still don’t want to go overboard and have sugar-fueled kids (especially the toddlers!) running around my house like wild animals!
I mean, that will probably happen anyway, but the non-candy Easter basket for the toddlers and older kids is my attempt to control it a little.

Easter is pretty synonymous with candy, (hello Reece’s eggs), but I prefer to keep the amount of candy they get to a minimum. That’s pretty hard, so the way I can control it is to let them have a great Easter Egg Hunt with lots of treats, but a nice Easter Basket filled with some small gifts that they will love.
For our family, the Easter Basket is really just an extra little surprise for our kids. I like to keep it pretty simple and I also like the items in the basket to be somewhat practical. I don’t buy junk and stuff that’s going to get thrown out quickly or forgotten about. I put together a basket of stuff I know they love and will use.

So, instead of giving them a basket filled with candy, I like to give them a candy-free Easter basket.

Toddler Easter Basket Ideas
For starters, let’s talk about the basket. How cute would it be to have a personalized name tag on each of your kid’s Easter Baskets? Check out these adorable tags from one of my favorite sellers on Etsy.

Books
Happy Easter, Mouse! If you already have any of the books in the Mouse series, you know how great they are. Definitely have been favorites for all of my kids.
Little Blue Truck’s Springtime Beep Beep! Another great adventure for Little Blue Truck. This is a fantastic series that kids love, plus this board book has flaps with lots of baby animals.
The Bunny Rabbit Show. A classic by Sandra Boynton, this book isn’t actually about Easter but it is about rabbits – so that counts right? Anything by this author will be a hit with toddlers!
If you’re looking for a traditional Easter story, look no further than The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story. This book tells the story of Jesus’ resurrection in a child-friendly way.
Puzzles
You can’t go wrong with Melissa & Doug wood puzzles! A great, quality product that toddlers love, and if you have a Mickey fan, this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Puzzle will definitely be a big hit!
Chunky Farm Animal Puzzle by Melissa & Doug.
Arts & Crafts
Do your kids love to paint but you hate the mess? These no-drip paintbrush pens are a lifesaver! Let your kids paint without worrying about paint getting all over them, the table, the chairs, and the floor.
A small Play-doh set can keep a toddler busy plus it’s great for their motor skills!
Play-doh Gardening Tools Set.
Toddler-friendly Crayons, Washable markers, and a mess-free painting set.
Outdoor Toys Toddlers Love
Toddlers love to play in the dirt! This gardening set will keep them busy and having fun. (different color options available)
All kids love bubbles but toddlers definitely have a knack for dropping a full bottle of bubbles all over the ground. This no-spill bubble bucket will help save your bubbles, plus it has three wands, so it can easily be shared.
Obviously this won’t fit into an Easter basket, but if you’re looking for a bigger gift, this one is worth every penny! Water tables are so much fun the younger kids and it can keep them busy for a long time.
Just for Fun
Character Bandages are always better for boo-boos. Something about them makes toddlers and kids happy to need one.
Once again, characters turn something boring into something fun. Battery-powered electric toothbrushes are an inexpensive way to inspire your toddlers to brush their teeth, which is especially helpful after they eat all their Easter candy.
If you’re buying for a little boy, you can’t go wrong with trucks. These friction powered monster trucks and can do 360 rotating stunts, plus it comes as a 3-pack so siblings and friends can play with them together.
A small baby doll is always a good choice for a little girl. These smaller dolls are the perfect size for toddlers to carry around and play with.
Candy Free Easter Basket Filler Idea
Back when I only had one child, and I was really strict about candy intake, I would make my toddler a candy-free Easter basket but I also did candy-free Easter egg fillers. I filled his eggs with Annie’s Bunny Grahams. I chose these because they had lower sugar and no high fructose corn syrup. So if you’re looking for a candy-free Easter egg filler, this is a great option.
Happy Easter!

These are such cute ideas! I love that they’re candy-free, too. Kids consume way too much of that stuff as it is!
