Spring has just about sprung and that means it’s time to start thinking about Easter and coming up with some Easter Basket ideas for toddlers. Right now I’m getting prepared to buy what I need for some candy-free Easter Baskets for the toddlers in our family. A non-candy Easter basket??? Yep! They’ll get enough sweets when they’re on their egg hunt.

Candy Free Easter Basket Ideas for Kids

I don’t mind my kids having candy, and I’m pretty lenient about it when it comes to holidays and special occasions. But, I still don’t want to go overboard and have sugar-fueled kids (especially the toddlers!) running around my house like wild animals!

I mean, that will probably happen anyway, but the non-candy Easter basket for the toddlers and older kids is my attempt to control it a little.

Easter is pretty synonymous with candy, (hello Reece’s eggs), but I prefer to keep the amount of candy they get to a minimum. That’s pretty hard, so the way I can control it is to let them have a great Easter Egg Hunt with lots of treats, but a nice Easter Basket filled with some small gifts that they will love.

For our family, the Easter Basket is really just an extra little surprise for our kids. I like to keep it pretty simple and I also like the items in the basket to be somewhat practical. I don’t buy junk and stuff that’s going to get thrown out quickly or forgotten about. I put together a basket of stuff I know they love and will use.

So, instead of giving them a basket filled with candy, I like to give them a candy-free Easter basket.

Candy Free Easter Basket Filler Idea

Back when I only had one child, and I was really strict about candy intake, I would make my toddler a candy-free Easter basket but I also did candy-free Easter egg fillers. I filled his eggs with Annie’s Bunny Grahams. I chose these because they had lower sugar and no high fructose corn syrup. So if you’re looking for a candy-free Easter egg filler, this is a great option.

Happy Easter!

These are such cute ideas! I love that they’re candy-free, too. Kids consume way too much of that stuff as it is!
